Selden resident Thomas Macy was driving a 2019 Ford van southbound on Deer Park Road near the intersection of East Deer Park Road in Dix Hills shortly after 10 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 30, when he rear-ended an SUV, Suffolk County Police said. The SUV then struck a four-door sedan.
Suffolk County Police Commissioner Geraldine Hart said that Macy’s van became fully engulfed in flames.
According to Hart, two women and a man in the SUV were hospitalized, as well as a passenger in the sedan. Each was transported to Huntington Hospital for evaluation. Macy was uninjured.
Macy, 52, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. He was held overnight and scheduled to be arraigned at the Central Islip Courthouse on Tuesday, Oct. 1.
